Despite this, the company is still willing to make deals regarding time exclusivity, with few people expecting the upcoming FF16 to stay a PS5 exclusive for long. This has led to the mainline Final Fantasy games on PlayStation being remastered, as well as the original six Nintendo entries, in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series.

This is partly due to Square Enix making a huge push to remake and remaster its old library and bring them to as many platforms as possible. The Final Fantasy series has made the jump to PC in a big way over the past few years. The PS5 release of Intergrade extended the console exclusivity, with the game still locked to PlayStation systems, at least on consoles. FF7 Remake was originally released as a PS4 exclusive in 2020, with a sticker on the box promising that it would be a console exclusive for one year, which was extended when the game was delayed by several months. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergradeis coming to PC on December 16 and it will include features that weren't present in the PS5 version of the game.
